About Me

Karen is a largely a self-taught artist, a couple of painting classes and jewelry wire work led me to explore self -directed practice. Started creating a decade or so ago during a tough period in her life, when making things became a lifeline. What started out as a personal outlet grew into a practice of curiosity, healing and play. Jewelry came first and I began creating just for myself. As I began gifting pieces to others,  seeing people wear my designs brought me great joy.

I completed my first painting in 2020, later expanding into mixed media and handmade greeting cards. I have a particular love for wire; each piece feels like a creative puzzle waiting to be shaped. You will often find wire woven into my jewelry and mixed media paintings on canvas.

Art Philosophy

Through Karen Joy Artworks, I explore beauty and imperfections as I experience them in my life and express that through my artwork. Lately, I have been exploring expressing gratitude for what I love, enjoy and is meaningful to me.  

Often while painting, I accentuate and layer what might seem like mistakes with texture and depth. I believe there is beauty in the layers and imperfections of life, in our stories and in the handmade. 

What is perfection anyway?  In my work, I explore both the pain and the happiness of life as they are intertwined. By letting go of perfections and fears that accompany it,  we might learn to live more creatively.  I have found creativity to be a way to connect with others.

About My Jewelry  Designs 

I create one-of-a-kind artful jewelry with a distinctive, independent style—pieces that often stand apart from mainstream trends. My necklaces, earrings, and pins are crafted with gemstones, mixed metal wire, eclectic and repurposed materials to create bold one of a kind statement pieces to small pendant designs.  Open to custom design requests—please inquire.

Greeting Cards
Cards are created from paintings, photographs and mixed media artwork. Many cards are quirky, fun and random.  I do have some holiday greeting cards available. I love telling stories with my cards.— many include a writing  that shares a little about the artwork and the inspiration behind it. Every card is a mini artwork meant to bring a smile and possibly a connection.

 
Community Connection

Beaumont Productions Greeting Cards for a good cause gives back to the community—20% of purchase goes to a local animal rescue . The log of funds raised is kept in my Studio.

Also, I am exploring a variety of fun and novel crafting meetups.
